Finding the show file names of mismatched episodes

Server Version#: Newest,
Player Version#: Web or Android TV
Recently Plex got it wrong on matching a show. Which to their credit, does not happen very often, so I am impressed. The thing I am not impressed with is finding the path/file name of the shows mismatched though. I have tried both with the Web and Android TV clients. No where can I find the file names for the shows that Plex thinks are something else. So I am not sure what to edit the meta data to be to correct it. Is there a special key sequence to get to more advanced options (like SageTV’s, CTRL-8675309) to get to the meat. -Bill

All management happens in the web app (or the Plex “desktop” app, which uses the same user interface). The “big screen” apps, like for Android TV, do not provide management features.

First, you need to know which show title Plex used instead of the correct one.
That in turn is a bit difficult to determine, particularly if you already have this other show also in your library.

Switch your library to “Epsiodes” mode, then activate the Duplicates filter.
Look at the Plex media info of these duplicate episodes, to see if there is a file name under the poster which is not supposed to be there.

Another tip is to look out for tv show titles which are not supposed to be in your local library. Again, look at the Plex media info of their epsiodes.

Do also activate the “Unmatched” filter and look out for any hits.

You can also use GitHub - WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG: WebTools Next Generation for Plex for some advanced features, like an export of a CSVfile of all matched media files etc.

How is it possible there’s no way to click on an episode that is matched incorrectly or actually matched correctly for that matter, to find out what file name and/or the path its pointing at?
There are no dupes or unmatched that I need to see at this time. I just want to see what the file is actually called so I can edit the metadata and correct it. -Bill

if you are the server admin you can click on Get Info in the web app or More Info in the Android TV app which will show you the path for that video. Both of these options can be found in the options menu (the three dots) on the details page of whatever you are looking at.

That’s what I meant when I pointed you at the plex media info.

Ok, I got it. And I was able to run the fix match. Thanks! I knew it had to be somewhere in there. -Bill

Sorry, it seemed to be together with “duplicates” so that threw me off the trail as I was only looking for the file name and path. -Bill
