CBC podcasts run the same pre-recorded promos (for other CBC podcasts) at nauseam. I’ve been looking around the web, but I can’t find any podcast apps that include anything like an ad remover. Seams like it would be a killer feature, but I can’t find it.
I was reading about the new intro detector/skipper feature for Plex TV libraries, and that it is only fingerprinting against the audio. Could the same intro detector be used to identify promos and ads in podcast files that are sitting on the server?
Alternative, there is another project on GitHub that might be worth looking at if anyone at Plex liked this idea.
Googling has lead me to this app https://adskippro.com/
Which seems to promise the feature although I have not tried it since it only seems to be available for the apple app store.
But I know that YouTube Vanced does something similar for YouTube Videos.
As to how it could be done.
Maybe the audio stream can be pre analysed and then smaller sections that stand out for having for example backroung music or faster speach can be taged and skipped on the assumption of being adds.
And finally it woube be great if this would be a per podcast setting.
