I really appreciate that you guys listened to people wishing for podcasts… I happen to be not one of those.
No worries, I disabled podcasts on all managed accounts. Podcasts still show on my Android app front page with suggested podcasts. Weird, because disabled, but ok. Disabled that too. Podcasts still show up as a tab. Weird, because disabled… Plus no setting to make the tab disappear. Switch accounts a few times, disabled podcasts on the main account as well, tab is finally gone.
Great, it’s gone everywhere at last. Not so fast! A search for content shows… Podcasts!
What if a kiddie account gets this erotic suggestion? How come I have to look at podcasts when it’s disabled everywhere? Can you please stop shoving podcasts down my throat altogether?
I agree. The News and Podcasts features should be “opt-in”. The news is essentially useless to me, and I would like to not even have it be an option on the web view.
I agree. I HATE the podcast feature and have gone through hell repeatedly disabling them and they keep reappearing.
Podcast really look like crap at the bottom of the Plex app home screen in android.
Please, give us a way to kill that evil feature!
Ok, for anyone who would like to disable podcast in their plex app,
1st… Follow the instructions here to disable podcast online… https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/account/online-media-sources
2nd… Power off your server, wait a few seconds and power it back on.
3rd… Uninstall the Plex app on your Android and iOS devices.
4th… Reinstall the Plex app, sign in, and your good to go.

What a convoluted and annoying process to require your users to follow in order to opt out of a feature none of us asked for.

Methinks it’s time for “Going Full GooEmby” though. Cos this lot are never gonna learn.
Unfortunately, this uncomplicated method didn’t do the trick. I love Plex, but now that I am finally a paying member, I hope that a little ‘magic’ found in all our apps and devices these days would learn that I never use podcasts, web news, etc. Not sure that podcast, etc. search results need to be done away with entirely, but why are they the first category of media in search results? No matter what one searches for you always have to wade through the sea of podcast results to find anything. There is room for improvement here.
