While playing music my Fire TV will sleep and turn off the music. It seems the Fire TV isn’t aware that anything is playing. It’s very inconvenient to have to press a button on the remote every few minutes to keep the music playing.
To reproduce:
Open Plex on a Fire TV
Go to Music and play something.
Wait a few minutes and the screen saver will turn on. The music keeps playing.
Wait some more minutes and the screen goes black and the music stops.
Expected behaviour:
Plex should inform the Fire TV that something is playing so that the Fire TV doesn’t fall asleep.
Workaround is still good for the latest Fire TV Stick 4K. I just installed a new stick and updated the OS. I was getting the 20 minute timeout.
The version of adblink I used could not get the ADB Shell command to work, but it has buttons that allow various functions. One of them is Edit Timers. I changed the sleep to off and that seems to have fixed it. I had already turned off the screensaver through the Fire Stick settings and the adblink showed that setting was already fixed.
Btw this is not really in the right topic as it isn’t a smart TV issue.
