Playing music on Fire TV continues to be a problem

Server Version#: 10.30.9.4262
Player Version#: 4.156.0

When playing music on Fire TV, the device goes to sleep as it assumes there is no activity. Playing video does not have this problem.

I see that this has been a known issue for several years. I assume that Amazon doesn’t expose any sort of API that can be used to keep the device active, so the fix may be that there needs to be some active video display, e.g. showing a volume levels output display would be great.

Appears they will never fix this. I am doing some server upgrades and will move to Jellyfin when I do and dump my plex and paid plexpass account. Too much focus on streaming FAST channels etc and making it multiple steps to even get to my media. I’m done…

I did go to Jellyfin. It is great for music. Keeps playing, supports multi-channel FLAC, passes DTS on Cube. Had issues with all of that on Plex. Movies are organized a bit different, but I don’t have to do the Other/My Server dance to get to my own media now. Have dropped my plex pass subscription that was supposed to renew next month and removed the app.

Thanks, after doing a little research I’ve concluded much the same, this is easily fixed by Plex, but just won’t be. I also have started to think about Jellyfin as an alternative.

I just installed Jellyfin, too, and can now listen to my music without it stopping every 20 minutes. Good advice.
