Just a heads up that there’s a bug registered for Firefox 149.0 that HLS streaming is broken.
This affects Plex Web App when set to “Use alternate streaming protocol for video playback” which forces the use of the HLS streaming protocol. The primary symptom is initial playback will fail. This behavior appears to be specific to Firefox and not Plex, as the issue persists regardless of Plex Server or Plex Web App being used (tested with the three most current releases). Disabling the “alternate streaming protocol for video playback” resolves the issue.
It seems the issue may be related to streaming delays introduced by the transcoding process as, for me, it does not seem to affect Direct Play media (ie, native h264 video) and is most notably experienced with LiveTV and DVR recordings as OTA programming is received and recorded in MPEG2 which must always be transcoded to h264 for web viewing.
