I am getting a blank screen… am i missing something??

Did you set the XBMC_HOME environment variable?

that worked…however…only when i run xbmc from command line… not thru xcode…

With XCode, just make sure you set the environment variable inside XCode. Project -> Edit Active Executable, then click on Arguments tab, and set environment variable there.
