Fix pms metadata storage locations already!

Plex Dev team,

Please for the love of all things sacred fix locations for plex metadata.
I have had to wipe my boot ssd several times due to overfilling. Why catch that much content on a boot ssd? I understand that people want video previews but the metadata pulls don’t even check if they are larger then the disk. Please patch to allow moving metadata to a separate partition or folder outside of /var/lib/.

Ubuntu 18.04
Server Version#:1.19.1.2645
Player Version#:

You can move the location, but due to how Linux works, it’s not straight forward. See Moving PMS 'Library' for details.

@frankpanduh I moved my plexmediaserver directory to to my RAID array and then simply symlinked it in the /var/lib directory. Works great!

If I may add,

  1. The default is what it is (unfortunately)
  2. A standard systemd override file allows you to place it anywhere on the host you want. Not a big deal.
