A simple and common example is when adding multiple 007 movies i have on DVD:
the titles dont contain “James Bond” or “007”, so a search wont find those. Ok well, so far - to bad - but logical.
SO i added these to a collection named “James Bond 007” hoping to resolve this. But to my surprise the search still does NOT find this.
Not logical, i’d say. Apparently its only possible to find a collection using the filter.
Keeping collections is a lot of work and i do not even get what the benefits are -at all- if a user cant intuitively find stuff using the search.

As it is now, collections are almost worthless. It’s a time consuming task that only sees benefit from the Web App, and not any of the other client apps.
What we really need is collections implemented as the thread with the excellent mockups has them. Single icons for the collection, with a drill down to the individual shows. This is on the Plex Team’s radar. I KNOW it is after talking with various developers personally about the subject. The question is, when and how it gets implemented. Hopefully it will be more thought out and better implemented than some of the more recent tools we’ve gotten.
Another thing is that IMHO Plex could suggest collections for movies.
I’m not talking about “movies starring actors who look like zach galifianakis” …
but rather franchises such as “Jason Bourne”, “James Bond”, “Harry Potter”, “Matrix”, “X-Men”, that sometimes dont include the franchise name in movie titles.
The same could work for multiple series of a franchise, although these often include franchise name in the series title.
