For my TV Shows folder I have a subfolder inside my hard disk but that is not being indexed by the plex. The subfolder has a few TV shows which are not visible in plex view. Any suggestions?
Loosing nested folders in the indexing will disorganize my content big time.
Arbitrary subfolders in TV show folders are not supported in Plex.
If this affects only a few subfolders, you can try and move these “grouping” folders outside of your regular tv shows folder.
Then add them additionally to the Plex library.
It’s more likely the logic behind how they index folders. By my experience, they treat every folder within your library index location (such as D:/Videos/TV Show/) as a separate show. They do their best to match the name of that folder to a single show. They then get a list of every file within that folder (and all sub folders and sub-sub folders etc), and completely ignore the folder names, looking for SxxExx format.
It’s frustrating, I know. I have a few shows (Batman, Scooby Doo, Trollhunters) that are all related to eachother, but have wildly different names that do not sit next to eachother in the folder view. What I did for those, is pre-fix each folder with a name identifier that kept them close and the release year. So for Batman, I’d have Batman 1991 - Batman - The Animated Series (1991) followed by Batman 1997 - The New Batman Adventures (1997), etc etc. Then I just put them in the root of my TV Show library. This keeps them ordered by release date, and grouped by the theme of the show. Plex didn’t quite know how to match them, but a short bit of work correcting the match or manually matching them to the correct show and they work beautifully. Oh, once Plex identifies and matches the show, it then uses the name of the show as pulled from the metadata site TheTVDB/TheMovieDB. So you may need to manually change the titles of the shows there as well, so they show up close to eachother in the Plex interface.
Movies within subfolders is allowed and supported. Since it doesn’t need to match entire folders of files to a single thing (like a TV Show), it will properly drill down in sub-folders for every movie and match them each individually to a movie on TheMovieDB. I do this for my Movies, collecting all the Marvel movies within D:/Videos/Movies/Marvel/.
