I've got a plex server that serves up quite a few high quality videos. (1080P 5.1 audio etc). The machine is an i7-920 so it's got plenty of horse power to transcode.
Ideally when one of the users I have shared this library with watches I'd like to force transcoding for them no matter what client they are using.
Is there an option for this? Right now if they watch some titles on certain devices it tries to direct play a 25gb file to them which destroys my upload.
On LAN I don't care at all if direct play is used, but when users I have shared my library are eating up all of my upload I need a solution.
I don't want to manually convert the videos for shared library into lower quality. I've been looking through the settings to find a solution but I don't see one.
I can ask the users to set the quality on their client, but I'd really like to set it myself on my end.
