Force Voice Detection to run?

Hey all,

I wanted to try the new Auto-Sync Subtitles feature, so I enabled it in my server, and made sure it was enabled in my libraries, but when I Analyze the files Voice Detection doesn’t appear to run.

Is there a workaround to force Voice Detection, or do you have to wait for Scheduled Tasks to run and complete overnight?

As a side note, I always wonder why when you manually Analyze something it doesn’t actually run a full analysis pass with intros, credit detection, etc. That seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of choosing to intentionally force it.

As long as you have this library setting enabled (either option that is not never), it will trigger when you manually trigger an analyze action on a movie or TV item.

It only works when you analyze an individual file from the actual file’s page and not the library view. Is there no way to run it for the entire library?

Edit: Similar to forcing intro/credit detection, if you do the thing where in the library view you checkbox select every single file (click the first movie → shift-click the last movie) and then Three Dots → Analyze it works.

How CPU intensive is the process?

Not that intensive, if you have a relatively capable processor.

It’s more I/O intensive as it essentially extracts the entire audio track to process it.

I have a Direct Play playback going right now so it’s not totally accurate, but my 12700k is running at 10-15% CPU and it seems to be going back and forth between Plex Media Scanner and Plex Transcoder which are bouncing around between ~4-8%.

Hi,

I too want to try the auto-sync subtitle. I have Plex Version 1.41.0.8992. But I don’t see the Voice Generator option in the settings. I followed the instructions and it’s simply not showing on my server. Please advise.

I needed to restart PMS to get it to show up, maybe give that a try if you haven’t already.

I did force all my movies for detection manually. It did all the work and even the auto-sync option was shown, when I watched a movie and gave it a try.
But today, somehow all detections got lost. I wanted to watch a movie and it was asynchronous. Checked the settings and it said there wasn’t any voice detection done yet. I know plex did the voice detection a day before with this movie.
So, I was checking other movies which plex had all done already. None of the movies did work. Every time the same information that all movies haven’t received a voice activity detection yet. Don’t know what’s wrong with it. I’m sure my plex server had all worked through them.
