FreeNAS + PMS_Updater + PlexPass + 1.15.x == Interface bugs, inaccessible server settings, etc

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488 (Rolled back to this)
Player Version#: Varies

My PMS is running on a FreeNAS jail initially installed using the plugin.

Since the initial install I’ve used PMS_Updater to keep the software up-to-date on the plexpass channel.

A few days ago I updated to PlexMediaServer-1.15.2.793-782228f99 (and rebooted the jail) and upon doing so had a lot of problems with the web interface:

-I could no longer access my server settings
-I could no longer add or edit libraries due to the language drop down being empty
-I could no longer “match” media via lookup as the agent dropdown’s and language boxes were empty.

Chrome developer tools showed 404’s for the calls to these assets.

I updated to PlexMediaServer-1.15.3.835-5d4a5c895 yesterday (and rebooted the jail) and the issues persisted.

I’ve also noticed that the Tuner process hangs when stopping or restarting the plex service despite me not having or using a tuner (I’ve seen there is a feature request for this to be an on/off option) and requires a kill -9 on the PID to continue forward.

The closest existing thread I’ve found that emulates my issues is:

…but thats an install from ports.

I was able to roll back to PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488-cc260c476 using PMS_Updater and the local file flag and everything is back to normal.

I’ve seen quite a bit of chatter that a lot has changed in 1.15 but nothing that jumps out to me like I missed a step or perhaps did something wrong?

Any input would be appreciated - thank you.

You’re gonna want to check my post in this thread, or at least this thread in general:

Long story short, the .bz2 update packs that are distributed by Plex have some files moved into a folder (vs where they used to be) and if you move them manually back to where they are supposed to live, AND restart your Plex/server, it should be back to normal.

I can’t speak to that PMS updater script because I copy update files over manually via ssh, but my fix may work for you and couldn’t cause any harm to try.
