Friend selling his older server - how does this look?

Hello, my friend is selling his older Plex server (without drives) for £120. How does this look to you guys:

Case: CoolerMaster Elite 130
PSU: Corsair CX430
CPU: AMD AM1 5350 Quad Core (not overclocked)
Motherboard: Asus AM1i-A
Memory: Hyper X 8GB
Drives: Not Included
OS: Not Included.

I was considering the WS My Cloud thing but this is significantly cheaper.

A lot will depend if you are going to transcode video.

Very roughly speaking, for a single full-transcode of a video, the following PassMark scores are a good guideline for a requirement:
1080p/10Mbps: 2000 PassMark
720p/4Mbps: 1500 PassMark

CPU: AMD AM1 5350 Quad Core (not overclocked) - Benchmark Score: 2565

So with that processor you could only transcode, 1 1080p Video at a time.

Of course if you plan on direct playing everything, the above does not apply.

As for the price

CoolerMaster Elite 130 - 39.99 - Newegg.com
Corsair CX430 - 39.99 - Newegg.com
AMD AM1 5350 Quad Core - 42.99 - Newegg.com
Asus AM1i-A - 44.00 - Ebay.com
Hyper X 8GB - 55.00 Newegg.com

Total 221.97

Really its up to you if you think its worth it or not.

the cpu is good enough to transcode one 1080p stream, but my main concern is the case. It only has space for 3 HDDs. If these limitations are not a problem to you, then by all means go ahead and buy it. The good thing it that the cpu is very low consumption. Will this be working as a server/player combo, running a desktop os, or as 24/7 server (maybe running xpenology?) ?

I see, it would be a 24/7 server replacing my gaming PC, which I’m sick of leaving on so sounds like it may not be worth it.
