Friend's shared library has movies that are played on my library. Why they are not showing as played for my user account?

Friend also got Plex Pass to share libraries with each other. We did that, it was super easy. BUT it was a big disappointment to see movies at his library, that are already marked as played at my library, as not played.
Hence I cannot got with two clicks to filter at his library only the ones I haven’t seen.
This is very VERY inconvenient!

Is there a setting/script/patch that this can be fixed?

Are you already working on it?

Aren’t there more people having this feature request?

Plex.tv will not store what you have or have not seen.
This information is only locally present in the server.
Servers (particularly when owned by different people) will not exchange information among each other.

This would be a particularly great feature, though;

  • If movies match on both servers, use my users’ ratings, watch statuses etc on the remote ones too, and
  • The ability to list all of the movies, music etc. that is contained on a friend’s library that I have not watched/listened to.

Is this a realistic request, or are there other considerations (technical or otherwise) that would prevent this?

Mainly serious privacy concerns, because it would require that plex.tv will store a list of all movies ppl have on their servers. Plus all the movies they have already watched

But you do understand the necessity of such function?

I mean the first thing I would be interested when you present me 1000+ movies would be to filter out the ones I have already seen! The whole quality of the user experience would be so much improved, by not having to go through all these potential played movies and waste so much time into it.

Nobody has time for it, and hence the whole library connections are becoming useless.

I believe there are technical ways to bypass the serious privacy concerns you are mentioning.

Example:

My server produces the front-end/GUI for my user, and it is using its own local table/database to present to me my library.

The presented library does have per movie the attribute played/UN-played.

What if for every remote library connected to my server, you create a new table/database ONLY at my server (hence NOT shared with Plex or/and my friend) that includes the remote movies names, plus the local played/UN-played status for each one of them.
