I can provide specific version numbers of my server and player later, but I have noticed this issue for about 2 years now (since I first started using Plex) so it isn’t linked to specific versions of any of the software involved:
When casting content from the Plex app on any device to a Google Chromecast, there is a “go back 10 seconds” button that allows granular jumping through the casted media. This button is also available when watching locally on the Plex web app or the mobile app. If I wish to go back more than 10 seconds, I can press this button multiple times on the web app or mobile app and it works as expected. If I quickly press the button multiple times while casting media however, the video consistently starts playing from the beginning. The work around is to press the button once, let the media re-buffer and start playing again, and then repeat. If I press the button during the buffering process, that is when the video restarts.
On the screen, the behavior is as follows:
When the back button is pressed, the progress bar appears with the current time for just a moment, and then jumps to 0:00. The bar then jumps from 0:00 to 10 seconds before the original position. The buffering wheel appears until the video re-loads, and the progress bar starts counting up again. At this point, the back button can be pressed again. If it is pressed befor this point, the progress bar remains at 0:00 and the video plays from the beginning.
It is would be awesome if this process could be optimized. It takes at least 15 seconds to go back 30 seconds (10 seconds x 3) in a casted video.
Thank you!
