How can I view any given poster in full size ? The biggest I can see right now is some 352x524 pixels like in the attached pic :
I have a big display, so I really would enjoy seeing posters and such in full size, but I don’t know how.
Even when editing tags, I can see a bunch of poster thumbnails, but I don’t see any option for viewing them in full size.
What am I missing ?
Is there a way to view actors’ biographies ? Right now when I click on an acture’s picture OR name, Plex just filters movies by actor, norhing more. It’s a bit disturbing : when clicking on an actor’s face, one is generally expecting to see info about the selected actor !
you can start with using a dedicated client instead of Plex Web, e.g. Plex Media Player. The actual clients tend to be more picture focused (except maybe the iOS versions).
as for #2 – not supported at the moment. I suppose they took the design choice to support this for music artists but were worried about the flood of actors/directors in movies.
Plex Media Player (Windows) : I don’t see any difference, I still can’t view any posters or artwork in full size
OpenPHT (Windows) : the design is different, pictures look larger, but the problem stays the same : I’d like a way to CLICK on a given picture and DISPLAY IT full-size. Is that too much to ask ? What’s the point in downloading hi-res artwor if we can’t display it and enjoy it fully ?
About #2, I don’t see why there would be more actors/directors than music artists. AFAIK there are way more musicians than actors, and way more music albums than movies !
Plex Media Player should switch to its TV mode when you switch to full-screen mode (or tell it to use only the TV mode in its settings).
however… you’re right… more focus on pictures does not establish an option to click on a poster to show it in full-size. I suppose the focus of Plex is more on showing the actual media in fullscreen, not the posters
about #2: check out the list of names you get when filtering by actors / directors.
Yes, #1 just doesn’t make sense to me. In library view, if we click on any part of a poster (except three of the corners), the movie starts playing. It’s not logical. The logical behaviour would be instead :
Clicking on the PLAY symbol in the center of the poster : starts playing
Clicking on the poster itself (except the three corners): displays poster full-size
Another acceptable behaviour would be to use the 4th corner (top right) : clicking in the 4th corner => displays poster full-size
And in tag edition mode, we should be able to click or double-click on any artwork do display it full-size, not just to change it without previewing it first. Again, it doesn’t make sense to me.
About #2, I just don’t see any reason for not linking to, say, Wikipedia for instance. The info is already available online, so why not fetch it / display it ?
Plus 80% of the users would already be happy with, say, the Top 1000 actors and directors to begin with, so…
