Just for anyone who stumbles across this PMP still has full access to the Trakt Plugin as @Webdoc
mentioned a few posts up.
nope⦠not fully. itās not syncing playlists anymore
Whatās it going to take for Plex team to reach out and collaborate with trakt to get a very slick sync solution in place. It would be a smart move for both companies⦠it confuses me as to why itās never happened?
Plex is a great media center with one limitation. It only knows what you already have in your collection. Trakt is also a great platform thst allows you to see everything thatās been release and whatās trending. Put the two together and you can actually manage the media and find what you might like to collect aswell as what you have missing.
Plex team please speak to trakt and see if you can work something out. The webhooms donāt really solve the problem.
I set up the trakt developed webhook solution this weekend. Itās working for plays, but doesnāt seem to handle new media collection, or at least not complete season additions.
It would be nice if the plex development/product team would just come out and say yes we will or no we will not ever do this feature? This thread has been going for 7 years with little to no active input from āPlexā⦠I can understand the concept of community forums and that you just need to accept no response but the majority of people who comment here are paying customers. The sheer lack of feedback from the plex team in these forums never ceases to amaze me.
Iāve come up with a solution and itās to install Kodi.. the setup took about 5 mins to do following the Trakt website instructions. Really simple and it just works. I cant believe how long Iāve spent on trying to get this to work properly over the years⦠and the Kodi just taking minutes.
Hereās the link if anyone needs it. Iām going to run Kodi and Plex for a while and see how kodi goes.
This is what Iāve been doing for a few months now. My Plex Server installation still exists, however itās just there in case Iām somewhere else and need to ChromeCast or something. If ever there is a way for it and Plex to have full conversations once plugins are no more, perhaps at that point Plex will once again become a bigger part of my life.
In case anyone is wondering, Kodi seems to work well with most of the cloud storage options Iāve played with.
Moving to another platform is not the solution.
Hi, Iām in this situation: Iāve a Plex server running on a Synology, with the Trakt plugin, It seems to be alive and kicking.
Now Iād like to have it on my second Plex server, running on a NUC, but I canāt activate any plugin.
So if I watch a movie from server 1 Trakt is updated; from server 2 it is not. Is there any solution? Both servers are under the same account.
Thanks
Hi,
I was trying to sync Trakt and Plex and after searching in the forums, founded the solution here :
Itās working perfectly fine.
I am using a Shield server which I though would be an issue to run the script but the good thing with this script is that you can run it from a separate computer.
I have installed the script in a raspberry, just updated the IP adress of the plex server (base url in config.json).
Just wanted to share it for those who are still looking for a solution.
Regards,
+1 for Trakt integration for PLEX server for Shiled TV
Hi,
I was looking for a plugin like this one but I have no idea how to make it work on Windows 10. Can you give me a hand?
Admittedly Iām not a Pythion expert but managed to muddle through and have it working.
Try this. Some of it probably is my hacky way of doing stuff and I tried to keep it simple for myself.

Download the repo zip here https://github.com/Taxel/PlexTraktSync
Extract ot to the root of your C: \ drive. -
Download and install Python 3.8 from here. https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/
Again you may find it easier to change the install path to C:
Also Iām not sure if necessary but when you install Python tick all the checboxes including one that says something like āadjust to pathā
Your C Drive should now have theses two folders.
From there you should be able to follow the stips from github, soā¦
Open command prompt (not as admin)
Type.
cd C:\PlexTraktSync
Then type.
pip3 install -r requirements.txt
This should install all the dependencies needed.
Then its pretty much this from github.
āAfter that, rename the .env_example file to .env . The data you have to put into this file will be printed out by python3 get_env_data.py , so execute this script and follow the instructions. To connect to Trakt you need to create a new API app: Visit https://trakt.tv/oauth/applications/new , give it a meaningful name and enter urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob as the redirect url. You can leave Javascript origins and the checkboxes blankā.
However if your Python folder is called Python (like mine) then when you get to the python3 get_env_data.py stage leave out the 3, so it would be python get_env_data.py instead.
I have to go out now so see how far you get and get back to me with progress and I will try to help more.
Hi again,
I followed the steps but when I type āpytho main.pyā I get an error

Iām no expert on this stuff but when you set it up did you do/see thisā¦

To connect to Trakt you need to create a new API app: Visit
https://trakt.tv/oauth/applications/new -
At first run, you will be asked to setup Trakt and Plex access. Follow the instructions, your credentials and API keys will be stored in
.envand.pytrakt.json
I did this but I wasnāt answered about my user and password
Trakt already supports this natively and has this built in to their service, does this do something additional such as syncing the whole library and historical watch status? From their support page āNote: Plex Pass webhooks only allow us to get new data from Plex, we canāt send any data to Plex or sync your past history. If Plex ever allows 2 way sync, weāll be sure to support it.)ā
It sounds like Plex is the holdup for full library and watch status syncing, if the program youāve created syncs the entire library and watch status that would be HUGE to me!

Hello all,
Did you tried (like me) to make the trakt plugin work on a shield where is the PMS ?
I managed first to move the metadata of PMS on āuser accessible storageā, then I copied the trakt plugin on the plugins folder like I did on a PMS on my synology which is still working.
However on shield, no direct access to the plugin but hopefully Kitana is there to help us.
SubZero is working like a charm but Iām still struggling to make Trakt work.
Kitana tells me :
Critical Error: Unable to import the playhouse.apsw_ext library (dlopen failed:
couldn't map "/storage/0123-4567/Android/data/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb/
Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data/com.plexapp.plugins.trakttv/Libraries/Android/aarch64/ucs2/apsw.so"
segment 0: Permission denied)
Any idea to help me ?
Taxel/PlexTraktSync works great for me! and no VIP needed!
Almost 8 years now boys. Iām not sure why Plex doesnāt want this.
