I would like to have the ability to set the max remote quality my server will offer.
I share my Server with a few friends and would like to limit the quality their player requests to make the movies have the best playability, since I am limited by my upload speed.
Thank you for your time
Love plex!!
wouldn't it be more useful if the server would have a way to determine the upload speed itself? For example, they could have a service on the server upload a set amount of random data to a dedicated server used by plex to measure the upload capacity and adjust the quality of streams to ensure that limit was not hit(sorry for the run-on sentence). Or, there could be a place to manually enter the upload rate. Probably would be a good idea to put a limit on the # of streams as well.
I'm sure there's a bit more to it than what I'm saying here. I'm just brain storming.
If it was able to monitor & adjust on the fly like that, that would be amazing.
Yeah, having the ability to tell Plex how much bandwidth it's allowed to use seems like the best solution, that way if you only have one streamer they don't have to have as bad of quality as if you had 5.
I would rather be able to set the upload speed instead of it being automatic. I might have 20meg upload but that doesn't mean I want it to use all of that because I want to keep some overhead for my downloads and browsing so I might set it to 10megs. I like the ability to set it as a whole instead of per stream so that during low usage times a single user can benefit from the full stream, also if I set a max of 3meg per stream and then 4 people start streaming it would take up 12 which would be over my limit.
