Thank you for your response.
Will that include a solution for the classic “legacy” Plex Movie agent as well according to what you can assume or know?
What issue is that and how is it linked to a change on TheTVDB?
Thank you for asking.
I only live in fear that the classic “legacy” Plex Movie agent stops working. I’m using it for both “TV show” and movie libraries.
Then let’s move that to its own thread instead of hijacking that other one.
I consider it’s fair to say that the legacy version of “Plex Movie” is set to go away at some point. That being said… I don’t have any specific information to confirm if/when that’s going to happen.
You’re most certainly not using the “Plex Movie (legacy)” agent for tv shows – could it be you’re talking about the “The Movie Database” agent? There’s no link between the two – except the new and legacy Plex Movie agents use The Movie Database as a source for some of their data.
You are correct. I am using “Plex Movie” (classic) for my movie libraries.
I am using TVDB for my TV shows libraries (using the same third-party scanner than for movies - this is why I had the “alternate truth” in mind when writing this)
That having put straight… I mostly use a German data source for movies as well as for TV shows - and I have also libraries which only can be filled by other third-party agents.
I would loose a lot of details when changing to new agents without the possibility to add content from other sources.
Therefore, I really hope for a long life of the Plex Movie (classic) [which I prefer over “legacy”] and the possibility to have an interface for third-party metadata agents for movies and TV shows.
got it… so your point is mostly about how to integrate a secondary agent / data source to your primary agent to reflect the addition of better quality German language metadata.
@drzoidberg33: any plans to expose the new movie (and future tv show) scanner agent to allow integration of 3rd party / alternative data sources? (knowing Plex isn’t usually publicly talking about those plans or timelines )
