I have been updating themoviedb.com frequently to get metadata in plex - but it seems the new plex scanner does not grab information from here, so I lack translated titles for kids content (among other things).
How is the metadata updated on this source?
When I updated library matching, I no longer get the option to fetch metadata from TMDB, Plex Movie scanner is the only option available now.
Does users have access to update metadata information for different languages on plex movie scanner?
New informations are copied regularly. I think you should see new addicitons and edits after max. 48 hours in Plex.
Do they use all the previous metadata agents to gather information?
And is is editable for users? (I got two god candidates for moderators to .no content, where one of them is myself)
As long as you can edit TMDB and TheTVDB, yes.
How are you able to use TMDB in the first place? I can’t seem to select it or keep it selected and it always used plex instead and it misses, like you said, a good deal of metadata that I’d rather use TMDB for except the system won’t let me keep it selected under the agents section in settings.
The new tv show agent is using TMDB as its primary source.
If you encounter a show where TheTVDB has an episode ordering which suits your files better, you can edit the show and switch the episode ordering.
You can also switch to TheTVDB ordering as default for the whole library, this time by editing the library.
Each time you don’t switch the agent. You merely change the “Episode ordering” preference.
It used to be if I wanted to search for a match I could select Plex, movie data base, personal library or whatever it was called - I could have a drop down that I could select which agent I wanted to use. Now it only shows me Plex agent and if I go into agents under settings I can see the other agents are options but I can’t select them or make them the default option. It used to be so much easier to select agents now I can’t get anything but Plex and it misses large chunks of files.
Well, neither of the new scanners (TV or movie) worked for me.
Some titles were even changed to false content e.g. the tv show “War of worlds (2019)” was changed to “War of worlds (1988)”. Manual search didn’t delivered the 2019 version.
Also new movies or shows are either not found or with wrong content.
So I switched back to the old scanners and got 100% correct results from themoviedb or the thetvdb.
Mate, how did you revert back to old scanners? I’m unable to make changes to any Agent settings.
The new agent/scanner does not use the traditional agent settings that folks are use to, they are defunct now and only used for libraries using the old legacy code. What you need to do it edit the advanced settings on the library once its switched to the new agent/scanner. See screenshot below.
This will give you a wide variety of settings to hopefully adjust to your specific needs.
Also – to my knowledge there is no revert back option. This is a one way move. If your really unhappy then if you have a plex server backup then you could restore or at worst create a new library using the legacy scanner/agent. But I’d not recommend that, the new one is the way to go and best to work whatever issue you have with the forum and move forward.
