A good 20-25% of what I listen to is live music, or concept albums where a gap is totally obvious (and massively annoying) so yeah, this needs to be fixed.
Hey plex devs, please give as at least an explanation why gaples playback is still not supported by player?
I have a huge collection of music 10TB+ (everything hi-res flac) and it is impossible to use plex for it (even if it has the best UI). I went with mopidy + iris installed on RPI4 -> Technics SU-G700 -> Tannoy 8.
Look devs, it is impossible to enjoy any classical album or conceptual albums (Pink Floyd, RadioheadâŠ) So please give us at least some reasoning why it is impossible to implement.
I too, would REALLY like gapless.
On which client? as it already works on lots of devices.
Gapless playback is supported by many of the plex client applications.
Yeah, but not for the most important ones. It doesnât work in web client, mac os x new client or old one.
We need gapless on Windows 10 client (and all clients including web client). Is there anything that can be done at the Media Center level? Thanks.
Glad to see others are also annoyed by the most basic feature of every other audio player being missing. I listen to tons of concerts and prog and the pause is super obvious that it shouldâve been fixed forever ago.
Another user annoyed by the lack of gapless playback. Iâm using the new Windows app and itâs beyond me how such a basic feature has been overlooked.
I would like to ad my vote for Gapless playback in Plex.
We need GAPLESS playback!
Yeah yeah I hear you Plex developers. Looking at my account and thinkingâŠwhatâs he care, he isnât even bothering to support us with a (well priced and very good deal) Plex Pass.
Well, I used to be a Pass buyer
. Then I asked the odd question when I got stuck (old forums, not here) but got kind of contrary and belligerent advice,
and, I kept getting such silly errors in updated versions that would sometimes cause me to do SO MUCH work
to get my media system back to a working state that I thought, "you know what, NOOOOOOOO.! "

I stopped your pocket money until I see improvement.
Heh.
Please do gapless playback.
(Oh god now you really wonât wanna do it. I probably just made the chances for it go from 80% down to 5%.
oops.
On top of the lack of gapless playback, Iâve been streaming from my home NAS to my work computer music only, mostly FLAC rips, and itâs not great either. Any long tracks (12mins or more) tend to have buffering issues.
Doesnât happen with video. Nothing is WIFI.
Itâs ridiculous agreed. I checked one album and that one was MP3, this one certainly isnât.
Seems like foobar and bubbleUPnP is the only reliable interface, I like how Plex can ensure The volume rockers Work (if screen is on). Kind of easier using my Yamaha Bluetooth adaptor with coax, canât actually hear much difference.
I had a bad experience with and album which relies on gapless tracks on windows with the new Plex app.
Is gapless not supported? Why?
Plex Pass subscriber here. I find the technical reasons for this not being implemented specious at worst. This could be implemented for clients that can support it with updates (e.g. chromecast).
Given that youtube music will support gapless playback and will cast this, Iâd really consider it essential for the audiophile users that you are trying to lure in with your Tidal integration to have gapless playback for classical, jazz, and works like Days of Future Passed and Wish you were here.
please devote some resources to this easily surmountable issue.
I purchased the Lifetime Plex Pass with the idea that gapless playback was something that would be enabled on all clients as a premium option, as the perks section for advanced audio lists gapless playback.
Gapless playback appears to be client dependent, and perhaps only applies to mobile/Plexamp apps? (Plexamp offers gapless playback even without a Plex Pass subscription, but the interface is too restrictive)
Android gapless playback is working as intended (which is great!), but I use Plex for Mac/Windows, the web client and the Plex Roku channel considerably more often than the mobile app, and gapless playback is not available on any of these clients.
Is gapless playback across all clients something on the development roadmap?
Just keeping thread alive with another user saying âWTFâ - 2019 and even Apple added gapless ages ago.
Why, just why?
Since Since Gapless Playback was set as implemented and is now closed:
Vote here for Gapless Audio Playback in the Web Browser.
Support of gapless playback depends on the client. Most Plex clients do not support gapless playback.
Well, maybe you shouldnât advertise âgaplessâ as a part of premium, then?
If I see that, I expect that EVERY official client would provide gapless playback.
And, no, Plexamp isnât gapless either, because it blends two songs that should play neatless after each other, so for a second or so they are both playing.
Thatâs a slightly different feature called sweet fades. Turn that off and youâll get regular gapless. If the Plex client has this feature, it can also handle gapless.
