Player Version#:
When Play Movies get this error message::
A codec required for playback could not be downloaded. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again.
Error code: 1008
It’s Not Happen in pervious version , and i also try to download codecs manually, but it seems not work.
Here is my codecs lib:
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Codecs] # ls

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Codecs] # cd 2584b51-4483-linux-x86_64/
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Codecs/2584b51-4483-linux-x86_64] # ls
libaac_decoder.so libac3_decoder.so libh264_decoder.so liblibx264_encoder.so libvc1_decoder.so
libaac_encoder.so libdca_decoder.so libhevc_decoder.so libmpeg4_decoder.so
The real key is this line:
HTTP error requesting GET https://downloads.plex.tv/codecs/2584b51-4483/linux-x86_64-standard/libh264_decoder.so (35, SSL connect error) (OpenSSL SSL_connect: Connection reset by peer in connection to downloads.plex.tv:443 )
This typically means the client got a bad certificate which is often due to a proxy or filewall blocking this site. Could that be the case in your network setup?
it’s ok when i copy the link to browser. server and pc is in the same network, i close proxy for certain, and i cannot find out the reason ssl error.
so , if i download those files from browser and copy to the lib codecs , it can work? maybe this way is simple to me .
You can download them manually (I think) but that means when a future update changes the codec version, you’ll need to do it all over again.
ok , i dont know how ,but seem it work automatically
