Maybe I just missed something stupidly obvious but hopefully you guys can help here.
Yesterday while away from home with RPi2 in hand I attempted to watch some stuff from my library remotely. This is true remote and not over VPN. RasPlex pulled up my library right away once I got the network connected. My upload speed at home is not the best at 1mbit so both the server side and in RasPlex I have the remote bitrate set to 720k. Even on RasPlex I have the force transcode option turned on. But every time I tried the Playing tab at plex.tv reported it was still doing direct play and it showed as the playback was constantly stopping and starting and I saw no Transcode processes going on the server.
Thoughts? Am I missing anything? I know on the web player and on my Android device both will play transcoded just fine. Just RasPlex doesn't want to cooperate.
