Glitches and dropouts in all recordings

There seems to be a MAJOR issue with the Recording engine in PMS. All of my recordings have glitches and dropouts in them, I’ve exhausted a lot of troubleshooting here, as I’m an IT professional, and was convinced it had to be a problem with either the hardware or drivers, since I have a few friends running PMS with no issues.
Here is what I’ve confirmed thus far;
-Same hardware running Win7 with WMC worked fine in December
-Same hardware now running Win10 with Emby works fine (but have other issues with Emby)
-Updated all drivers to latest from manufacturers
-Tested both internal PCI-E Hauppage HVR-2255 and HD Home Run HR3, same results with both
-Ran Gsmart on hard drives to make sure drives are healthy, and they are, no error
-Benchmarked the array, consistently pulls ~200MB/s Read and Write
-Checked signal strength with Hauppage signal strength utility, solid low 30s, no errors

I’m at a loss here, there is NO reason this should be happening, and yet it is.
For now I’ve gone back to Emby, and am just using the Theater app on Windows and the Xbox One, because their Roku app has MAJOR issues right now. It’s ridiculous to me that WMC has been around for 15 years, and worked flawlessly, yet I can’t find a solid workable solution for Windows 10, 15 years later.

I share your frustration. I’m putting together a thread summary of all the roku issues I’m facing, found your thread.
Some of my discoveries while we wait on the devs…
Just so you know, the reto version works nearly flawlessly for live tv [. At least for now.

Now I realized you need to check the settings on the client on the main page to enable mpeg2 and allow original on the preview Plex, but I’ve given up and switched this back to 12mb to get the glitches to go away…so try preview both ways, and retro capped at 12 or less. Then in back to just the audio drop outs.

Here is the retro link : [[https://my.roku.com/add/PlexRetro ]

@pressorv
Sorry, I should have clarified, the player is irrelevent, as I’ve tested the .ts files in VLC, and the same glitches appear there, so it’s actually happening during the recording process.

I have the same issues here… .recordings with plex show glitches … but with Media portal i have no issue and the signal is at 100%

@warham30
Nice to know I’m not the only one!
What’s your hardware and OS?

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
GPU: Nvidia GTX 780
SSD: TEAML5Lite3D480G 480GB
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 C14 2x8GB
MBD: Asus B150 PRO GAMING/AURA
Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD
Hauppauge Hauppauge Inc. HDPVR-1250 model 1196
WinTV-dualHD TV Tuner

Windows 10 64 Bits.

i tried to uninstall PMS… reinstall codec… etc… and still having the issue

so @warham30 let’s do some more comparison here, do you have the WinTV application installed for your Hauppage tuners?
Do you or have you ever installed Emby for comparison?
Do you have ESET Endpoint security, if not what AV/Security software do you have?
Are there any other software products you may have installed that could possibly interfere with Plex?
What is your primary record drive?
Maybe by comparing notes we can find a common culprit.

Oh that sucks ! That likely means the updates released in the last day or so might not fix this problem. Let’s see…

Just downgrade to the version 1.13… and i test it… for now no glitches…

Which 1.13 version?

Trying to find an installer online for 1.13 and can’t.

Very frustrating that they don’t post previous versions in case there are issues.

just try

@warham30
So I tried engaging the Beta channel and going to 1.15 first, and the glitches got even worse, it was almost unwatchable. So then I uninstalled, and re-installed 1.13.9.5456, watching Live TV right now, and other than one stutter at the very beginning, has been rock solid. WTH did they break in 1.14?

it’s just not the first time for this bug…

Plex release update and i supposed nobody check if the live tv is ok…

They put on the beta channel and let user check if the update have some bugs…

  • Live tv have some problem since 3 updates…

1, Glitches…
2. Bad rename for folder if your show have special characters at the end… resulting by an lost of your record…
3. Guide TV have some diffilculty to push information correctly on some clients…
4. Plex can’t handle more than 100 channels if you use your own Xmltv…
5. Remote live tv buffering channels…

etc…

If you don’t want any problem with plex… you must wait 3 or 4 updates before to test on your computer…

So which sub version of 1.13 are you currently using? .5, .8, or .9?

Version 1.13.9.5456

Well, I spoke too soon, still getting drops and glitches on 1.13.9. Less than on 1.14, but still there.

@warham30
You never did answer all my original questions, what Anti Virus / Internet Security do you have installed?
Do you have the WinTV software installed?
Have you ever installed Emby?

Trying to figure out what if anything may be a specific cause of this issue.

Working on it on the other topic

I am having a similiar problem with Hauppague tuners- I have the wintv quad and win tv dual usb, both are experiencing problems with live tv with glitching and what looks like transcoding problems. I have reconnected my HD Homerun and removed the hauppague tuners and it was working fine.

Problem persists with the latest stable and beta Plex server editions.

This has been happening to a lot of people running 1.15. There’s another thread here. Plex Server 1.15.1.707 release signal issue thread

I think I’ll downgrade to 1.14.x tonight and see what happens… Hope they fix this soon!
