Hope this will become a thing!
@elan I came here to post up essentially what @IanSav said.
I totally think itās possible, and likely a much easier lift than before. Iāve had lots of folks in my circle express interest in this feature.
If the plex dev team could pull this off, Iād be grateful and it would further expand my android use of Plex, and especially plexamp!
Fingers crossed!
Hi Elan,
Have you/Plex been able to investigate Google Assistant/Gemini integration with the latest information from Google?
Regards Ian.
Yes, i would really enjoy this. Untill a few months back it worked with emten normal plex app, but that is now no longer available for Android auto. If it worked with the old app, you should be able to get it working with plexamp i hope.
We have not, sorry.
Plex pass user here, I am for this as well.
Hi,
has this been fixed yet?
As I can no longer use Plex amp with Google maps
I agree, implementing this feature would be great!
Having pulled the plug on Spotify and moving to my own music, I noticed this was a missing feature this morning when I told google home to āskip this songā in the shower.
Iām hoping things are a little easier to implement these days. Looks like this request has been around since 2018 at least.
Love the app and service by the way. Plex Pass 4 lyfe.
Iām in the same boat here - moving away from streaming services, considering a lifetime Plex Pass to go with my music server and PlexAmpā¦but the lack of Google Home ability is a real downer.
Damn, yes this needs to be added. I went looking to see if it was possible and found this thread. Keeping it going.
Bump!
Has there been any progress in the investigation to allow Plex to be used with Google Assistant/Gemini?
(I hope this thread will not be closed while we await some response/comment from Plex.)
As a Plex Pass user, I want Plexamp to feel like a first-class citizen in the Google ecosystem: Google Assistant for hands-free control and Android Auto for a driver-first interface, because thatās where music actually wins: in the car, every day.
Movies are a āhome screenā experience; music is a āmobilityā experience. Android Auto + Assistant compatibility turns Plexamp into a default daily companion, not an occasional app.
Commutes and drives are repeatable listening moments; owning that context increases daily active use and session continuity.
Google Assistant (or gemini whathever) + Android Auto combination are the channel to make Plexamp the everyday music layer for Plex users, especially Plex Pass subscribers who already value premium experiences and are most likely to adopt and advocate.
Please add my self to the interested customer on the jira epic along the others.
bump!
