There’s a Google Home bot called Flex TV which works.
It’s a bit unwieldy having to prefix everything with ‘hey Google, ask Flex TV to…’ tho
I’ve tried but it’s not working… I’m French.
Did you install the plugin in Plex?
I found a sub forum for flex TV.
It’s in English tho, but hopefully it’s helpful
To be honest, it’s not for lack of interest. It’s because the developer of the application is usually responsible for developing the services to integrate with that app. In Plex’s case, the API’s provided by Google just don’t work with how Plex works, without some “extra” help.
As Plex is a Google partner, they’re a bit more limited in flexibility with what they can do and how they can do it…versus a third-party dev like myself.
I’ve had several requests for French/German integration into Flex TV already, and I assure you, it’s on my roster.
However, if you find my most recent posts in the FTV thread, you’ll see that I’ve got quite a few other things in the works as well.
If you or anybody else who are reading happen to speak French & English, and have experience working with DialogFlow…send me a PM, and we can discuss how we can make this happen sooner than later…
I would really like to see Google home comparability enabled in Plex. It would help me greatly if I could say I want to play some tunes or watch a movie and have it done automatically.
Done!
What is done?
I found this on the Google home Support pages asking Google to add Plex support. Not sure if it will help but certainly registering that there is an interest will be something.

Anyone know where there is a step by step guide to installing Phlex in a windows environment in the meantime ?
No, but you can find plenty of people like yourself and myself asking and getting no help. Neat eh?
No help with what?
I’ve had a difficult time getting my Google home to communicate with FlexTV as well. I got it to the point where I could ask Google to play a movie on FlexTV, but instead of playing the movie, it would display a text synopsis of the movie. I don’t know if it’s a Flex to Plex communication issue or Google to Flex or some combination of them all. I’ll keep plugging away and try to post updates as I progress. A tutorial sure would be nice.
It’s pretty bad that we have to fiddle around with third-party solutions to get Google Home integration. And while I don’t know much about how services get added to Google Home, I think that there must be at least some possibility that Plex could get this done themselves, if, and this is a very big IF, they wanted to.
Take a look at Emby: they have a blog dated 18 April 2018, so over a year ago, where they announce that Emby can be controlled via Google Home. Meanwhile, yay, we get News and Tidal offers.
No help with: how to get Google Assistant to play a movie, music or other content, via their Plex account/server, on a device like a TV
Something like is set up with Spotify, Play Music, Youtube, Hulu, etc. - ideally where I could set Plex as the default movie provider, so I can say “Hey Google, play Charlie Chaplin The Great Dictator on the Living Room TV” and it will just play.
I do love having the ability to Cast things to TVs, and even though it’s not always perfect, it works well enough, voice integration seems to be completely missing for Plex - is this something Plex has to do? Is it something Google has to do? Both? Do users simply need to be more vocal about wanting the feature?
Google Home support. More people use it then Alexa. Please announce something.
Agreed. I believe Google Home has less market share than Amazon devices, but it’s still a sizeable chunk of the population (roughly 20% vs 50%). Google is listed as a “platform partner” on Plex’s website - it’s hard to understand why after several years there still isn’t native Google Home functionality - having to install a separate addon and use clunky activation phrases is a non starter for me.
Couldn’t agree more
I would also love the ability to control my Plex with my Google home mini. Hoping for a solution soon.
