Maybe I am not reading your post correctly…can you clarify “Its supported on home assistant”? I have seen PLEX and PLEX Amp on Android Auto and have used them using the screen navigation buttons but Google hasn’t been able to operate PLEX via user voice commands. I believe the same is true for Google Home devices. Can you share more details one your experience?
Home assistant is an open source replacement to google home and homekit, it has the option to run plex commands.
I don’t know if it was plex that made those commands (which would explain no google home if they did) or if it was users using their api.

I was going to second Home Assistant, I’m still in the process of setting it up but it basically lets you trigger stuff with Google Home and do stuff on Plex.
It does way more but you could just do that.

Its one of my future projects once I get some more space, I hope by then automations are more simple. Oh and the google home part only works if you pay a $5 a month fee or do some weird set up yourself, otherwise google assistant has nothing to do with it.

I’ve recently purchased a bunch of Philips hue lights now that work from home as a permanent thing for me; because of that I have been looking at adding Google home Mini to my environment. But then I found this.
I’ve been running a Plex Media server for my family for a couple of years and this is now a must have feature for me.
As someone who was considering shelling out the money for a Plex lifetime pass I would want to make sure that it has this feature set before committing to that purchase.
Plex audio in the car 300km away from the server? Got it!
Plex 4k movies on the tv 2 floors above the PMS? Got it!
Plex audio in my room with all the other Smart Home products? (Crickets)

I’ve got HA running and the Plex integration, but I can’t see how to connect with Google Home for voice commands?? Am I misunderstanding your post?
Coming up on Sept 2020… I’m still not able to deal with plex via google home. why isn’t that available yet??? paying for plex pass … not sure why

I can’t believe after waiting for this for years we still have nothing.
You will pay your developers to build gimmicky virtual movie theaters to watch their library in a fake theater but you won’t take the maybe 1 month it would take in a single developers time to build an effing Google Home integration?
I feel like I get an email every month of Plex announcing some big new software feature that no one wants, but you guys won’t even acknowledge this massive oversight?
Come on. I just gotta accept that I’m gonna have to install that stupid Emby software just to get this one feature.

The whole lack of Google support is madness. Unfortunately we’re in a position where we are at the mercy of two company’s without any track record of listening to their customers.
I am uncertain we’ll ever see this feature - it has been years of us asking and not a glimmer of hope.
I now begrudge my PlexPass fee - I don’t want thousands of second rate TV shows and un-watchable films thrust upon me as a bonus. I want to access my content with a casual command.
As I said at the start - it’s madness.

I bought a Google Home Mini speaker to listen to my music collection from my home Plex server, just to find out that for whatever reason it does not work. How is this possible, if Amazon’s Alexa works with it?!
The Plex team keeps adding new services, like live TV over the internet with uncommon channels and other services, but can’t work with the google voice assistant?!
Typically a company will add features that it believes that will be useful for most of it’s audience or that will bring more revenue. I believe that voice control by Google is a very useful feature that will increase the product usability and therefore happier costumers that will stay in the platform and even recommend it to others.
This should be one of the standard features for Plex in my humble opinion.

Sorry I’ve been gone, if you’ve yet to figure it out, you either have to pay ha $5 a month for the commands, or set it up yourself through
Google cloud console
Never said it was easy, just that it existed.
I’ve had the google assistant integration running with HA since it was launched, and it’s for exposing HA devices etc to GA - it doesn’t allow you to control Plex e.g. “ok google - play Black Panther on Living Room TV” doesn’t work via the HA integration
Agree with the statements above. Been using plex a looooong time but am pretty surprised this has not been addressed yet. With the way all of these technologies are going voice control is the future. After buying a new chromecast with android tv and built in google assistant I was shocked that we are not provided search results and suggestions from within Android TV. Would love to see this feature with a slew of google home and chromecast devices throughout the house it seems that this would be a top priority feature. Disney+, YoutubeTV, HBO, HULU, Netflix are all integrated seamlessly. What gives PLEX?
