My wife and me keep on saying ā€œPlay ā€¦ on Plex on my TVā€ but its not working :slight_smile:
I have looked a lot into Alexa vs Google Home and Google was just the logical choiceā€¦ I hope Plex sees it that way tooā€¦

I too would love this feature. Plex + google home + chromecast is a lovely trio.
Iā€™ve watched plenty Alexa vs google home and even if google home isnā€™t as compatible it still takes the price in the big picture.

Any updates? noticed on the google home app that plex app is showing as a supported app. Anyone else seeing this? Does this mean we can now use plex via google home?

Please. Please add this. Iā€™m currently trying to decide whether I retrofit my home, my parents home, and my in-laws home with Google Homeā€™s or Alexas, and since between all of us we own 15 or 20 chromecasts, Itā€™s obvious that a Google Home would be better.

Googleā€™s API is available. Please please please hop on this. Iā€™m a little surprised Alexa development went first, seeing as she canā€™t cast anything to the Television (sheā€™s only good for controls). Google Homeā€™s turn.

Got this working with plex home theater by installing the plex home theater manager smartapp for smartthings: https://community.smartthings.com/t/release-plex-home-theatre-manager-smartapp/37415

This created a ā€œmusic playerā€ kind of fake device in Smartthings which points to HTPCā€™s Plex HT application. Then I setup a couple webCoRE pistons to listen for IFTTT google assistant voice commands as events passed to it via a maker webhook call (HTTP POST from IFTTT --> webCoRE via Smartthings.) When the event is received, commands on the Plex smartthings device are triggered (I assume via HTTP control.)

I donā€™t think I could search for titles or fully control it with my voice as I kind of hacked together individual services for each voice command instead of passing other data via the event to webCoRE, but I have pause, play, stop (exit playback) working. But a simple full voice integration sure would be niceā€¦ and it is obviously possible.

And Iā€™m with youā€¦ the kinds of integration that are possible with google are exactly why I leaned towards a google home instead of an echo! It is already bearing fruit for me :slight_smile:

I would love to see google home/assistant support for plex. It would be wonderful to tell my google home to turn on my tv, and have it play something on plex via chromecast.

Google home can turn on your TV if you have the right TV :slight_smile: Working great for my samsung TV + smartthings + google home combination!

Google Home/Assistant+Plex+ Chromecast is a no brainer.

And if possible Siri iPhone+Plex+Chromecast is a KILLER feature.
