Google home speakers / video

Hey all.
I am new here, looking around for Emby alternatives. I read 3 or 4 articles on the web, and watched a few videos where people were successfully connecting to and controlling Plex with Google devices. And also a few people stating that they are able to cast their music and videos to Google devices.

So my big question is this. Is this really possible with Plex, whether it is a developer hush-hush ability or not (Im sure amazon wouldn’t be so keen on it).

If spme users that have direct knowledge to the abilities or limitations could chime in, I would greatly appreciate it. I do not want to spend a vast amount of time converting my server over to Plex only to find out; this is no longer possible, or was never possible to begin with.

Thanks so much!

No, it’s the other way around. You can send content TO Google devices if they are Chromecast enabled. Plex support casting from some Plex clients to Chromecast supported devices. See Casting Support | Plex Support for details.

Hi.

Thanks for the response, but that wasn’t the question I was asking.

I wanted to see if Plex was able to interface with google “Hey google … tell plex to play ______ on living room speaker”

But I found my answer, and indeed have Plex running, am sending commands to plex through google, using Home Assistant OS and Plex Assistant in it to do what I wanted.
