[Feature Request] Ability to "cast" (like to a chromecast) to plex

Hi All, 

 

My request, which I believe would be awesome, is bring googles "casting" features to Plex Home Theatre... In a sense allowing PHT to replace a chromecast...

 

So recently moved out from a share house, and now have only one TV... As a result I left my chrome cast at the old place, so they can enjoy it, and I have a cast point whenever I go over to visit... I only took my Mac Mini Plex Media Server/Home Theatre with me... So one TV, one Mac Mini to enjoy content on my TV with...

 

I really miss one thing though... With my Chromecast I loved being able open YouTube on my iOS devices, and create a playlist of videos to stream, and "casting" these to play on the TV... This was great, due to ease of use (wife proofed lol), being able to skip, and add more videos simply from an iOS device, without said device being tethered to the TV till your finished (as Airplay does)...

 

Plex is unique in that its not committed or tied to any one particular platform, so having this would mean Plex can harness the best of both worlds (Airplay and Google Cast)...

This will make the Plex the one and only player you need !

PHT can already receive casts from other plex clients

I assume you are asking to open that up to the point where PHT is ChromeCast and can receive casts from any chromecast app, in effect a "Virtual Chrome Cast" ?

Thanks for the link, but it’s not flinging Plex content I have an issue with.

I would love to be able to cast from the YouTube app on my android phone to the Plex media player I have setup on my rPi3 for example.
