anyone know if there’s any talk of plex making an app for google tv?
fwiw I'm planning on doing something for GoogleTV. It's difficult to plan much at the moment: until the SDK arrives it's not easy to determine how big the project is going to be. Google have announced it for early 2011...but I know they are still debating what should be in it. There is a big push at the moment to get developers to develop GoogleTV-friendly websites - so it could be possible to build a web front end and point it at the Plex server....but without transcoding available on the server side that will be a bit of a pain to get going.
As an Android developer I have a preference for Native apps so I'll be happy to wait until the SDK comes along. With the new Plex library structure and API it is going to be very easy to navigate around media (although having the option for JSON responses instead of XML would have been perfect). Biggest problems I see are going to be deciding on the best way of presenting the UI and implementing codec support (not sure what Google will provide in the SDK - Logitech and Sony seem to be supporting different media types).
If I recall correctly, LG have announced support for GoogleTV in some of their future products....in this case it may well be possible that the crew here will deliver their own app (although if they did I suspect it may be LG-specific).
