Just received my pre-ordered Google Tv Streamer and shocked…NO PLEX APP. I searched in Apps and NADA??? WT#??? Anyone have any insight. I was intending to replace all of my Roku Ultra units because we’ve had a constant increase in the number of issue as apps become more bloated and Roku as well and this is a DEAL BREAKER. I have roughly 30TB of content and I’m not going to run Roku and Google TV Streamer (just for YouTube TV).
ANY INSIGHT from anyone else would be great. Google…REALLY DISAPPOOINTED!!!
Just go on your mobile phone and under the Plex app in the playstore selected the streamer and click install. It will loaded in the new streamer right away.
MikeF0209…PERFECT!, installed and running. Thanks. Now all I have to do is figure out why the volume seems unreasonably LOW in the Plex app. Everything else, all the native apps are MUCH louder than Plex which will ANNOY my wife but me as well.

I had the same problem with missing Plex app (not even found in search, all others auto installed during setup). Restarted, and then it could be found and installed.
My Google TV device (ONN Google TV 4K Pro) had it’s own separate volume control, set at 80% by default. I only noticed it in the Google Home app (I’m using Harmony remote, AVR, easily missed it). Set to max, volume sounds normal now (AVR still has its own volume control).
FYI, while I do have the occasional Roku Plex app crash, I’ve figured out it’s a memory issue and use “restart app” each time I run Plex on my Roku TV and now it never crashes.
My experience with Google TV is minimal, but after using TCL Roku TVs for years and getting them for family members because the of the clean Roku UI, I did buy a TCL Google TV model in January of 2024 and it was awful.
The UI is garbage and distracting - yes, I made the changes to the UI to reduce the clutter and ads.
The other thing about Google TV I really disliked, hated actually, is the fact that they made the Settings so complained and it felt like I was leaving a whole new phone, tablet, PC OS!
This is a freaking TV!!! It should be simple to use, not complicated with all the settings hidden in deep, obscure menus.
Lastly, I really disliked the Plex client for Google TV - it is missing features found on the Roku Plex app and for me, missing these features was a deal breaker.
I returned the Google TV and used a Roku Ultra with a large computer monitor until the Roku Pro series started shipping.
I now have a Roku Pro running Plex and I will never go to another platform - especially Android (I have a Samsung Android smartphone).
Actually, I’d switch to an Apple TV before going back to an Android based Google TV!
I didn’t understand Google and why they feel a TV, a SMART TV needs to be so complicated!?
