Is anyone using a ATSC 3.0 tuner able to see those chances listed in the Gracenote program guide so you can select those broadcast for recording? My market added five ATSC 3.0 broadcast in early March, but these broadcasts are not yet showing up in the guide. Can a person do anything to make them appear? I would like to be able to record from them, should they ever air any 4K programs.
Gracenote is not! the problem Plex is: see For ATSC 3.0 audio to work, please enable AC-4 audio - #52 by JayG7800 Plex can be configured to tune 3.0 channels but will remove all audio so it would be moot to explain how too.
other suites can don this… some are indeed still in beta…
There isn’t separate guide data for the ATSC 3.0 channels, you would need to use the existing channel’s data.
For example, if your market has a channel 4.1 with both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0, the HDHomeRun tuner will present it to applications as channels 4.1 and 104.1. When configuring channel 104.1 in Plex, you would choose the guide data for 4.1.
The reason for this is that channel 104.1 doesn’t really exist (it’s just a renumbering of 4.1); the HDHomeRun is simply displaying it as a separate channel so that it can be distinguished from the ATSC 1.0 version. This was something SiliconDust implemented fairly early on to make it easier to identify the ATSC 3.0 broadcasts (otherwise you would have two channel 4.1s, for example).
