Recently purchased a Nvidia Shield and the thing is awesome but for Plex I have an issue with my HDR 4K files. 4Ks work fine but I guess the HDR has something to do with it.
I have done a little testing and I have Direct play set to auto Auto, and passthrough is disabled since I have to convert the TrueHD audio to AC3 (my surround sound setup doesn’t support digital audio)
That is when the issue occurs, I can set Passthrough to auto and the HDR files will play fine but Plex will stop transcoding my audio since passthrough isn’t disabled.
Right now, I only have the option of having one work or the other and I would really like to get this working, any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I’m seeing this with HDR and TrueHD streams on my Shield, it seems to be related to transcoding. If I choose a regular AC3 audio stream in the same video, I don’t see the green/tiled screen.
TrueHD should passthrough to my AV, but it doesn’t seem to–it might be related to me having it all connected through my TV (using ARC back to my AV Amp_.
My preference would be just to use the Plex app on my Vizio P65-c1, it doesn’t seem to passthrough very well. Something will work eventually ;).
Yeah, I’ve had to resort to other programs. I just installed the Plex addon for Kodi and it’s actually pretty damn great. I think much better than the app and plays the files perfectly and even faster than the app. There’s also a setting to have it open straight to the addon when you open the Kodi app itself, so you wont have to dig around. If I had to be picky though, I really liked using voice to say what movie I would want to watch on the Plex app
