Group Movies like Indiana Jones, Saw, etc...

They should just make collections a premium feature if they want to monetize them. Dirty but better than nothing.

Hey, since a whole lot of us on this forum have the lifetime subscription, we would not mind all highly rated requests (movie groups, Windows service, backup, keeping optimized version, etc) to be premium features.

Plex is listening and has been working on this feature for a bit. You can see many of the underlying things being done that never used to be there.

There are tags now saved with the collections info.
There is a new hub on many clients that you can see when you go into a movie that parts of a collection.

But I’m sure before this can roll out so you get a collection icon vs all the movies in your listing they need all clients to support it first.

Which honestly wouldn’t take half a dozen years or more to accomplish.

It seems this will finally come in the coming months: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/7kzqca/plex_media_server_11104633_beta_now_with_proper/

FINALLY.

Thanks Plex! As a show of my appreciation I am the proud new owner of a shiny Plex pass.

I just realized how long I’ve been tracking this request (going on like 8 years now), so this is a satisfying one to cross off the list. Thanks for not forgetting about us, media gods.

Why do you call this finally?

It isn’t implemented yet.

People were complaining that they need to define each collection manually?
The informations should be found automaticly and put into collections.
Just like Kodi does and how series work in plex.

Or did I miss something?

Is auto-collections existing ?

FAQ, item 1

The FAQ is not enough

But I found what I needed to do

For each library: in the library settings :

  1. Enable the ā€œhide movies that are in collectionsā€ dropdown that is described in the faq
  2. enable " Use collection info from The Movie Database"
  3. Refresh ALL meta data from Library
  4. Wait, really wait, it can take up a long time to rescan and downlaod everything again.
  5. Done
