Handbrake 1.3.0 Best Settings

Does someone have step-by-step instructions for configuring Handbrake 1.3.0 for getting a crisp, clear copy of a dvd to be used for all devices (Samsung TV, Firestick, Android, iOS)?

Personally, I found the ‘Very Fast 1080p30’ preset in Handbrake to be an excellent starting point.

I’m similar to the recommendation above, but I use fast 720p as a starting point to save space since DVDs (not Blu-ray) inherently are lower resolution.

Starting point: are the other settings as well? I’m clueless

I was just helping someone else this morning, upgraded my HB from 1.2.2 to 1.3.0 to note glaring differences - and there aren’t any - so…

Here’s the beginner’s guide, with pictures, and text easier to read than your Ikea Bookshelf Assembly Instructions… Guaranteed:

That new LapSharp Filter (default setting) is a magical thing. You’ll make DVD encodes that look better than the source. If you can believe it… believe it. (I don’t use it for HD encodes).

Two sections basically - HD atop - DVD underneath. With tips scattered to and fro. If you have any specific questions, please join that thread and ask away.

Thank you @JuiceWSA for calling out the lapsharp filter. I just recently upgraded HB and will play around with that setting.

It’s one of those deals where you can’t see exactly what it’s doing, but it looks better. Going along with the deal of when you can see what it’s doing - you’ve gone too far.

The default setting is all I’ve ever used - or needed. It’s quite amazing. I’m making DVD stuff that’s as good as 720 - to these eyes - 'cause they can’t tell 'em apart.
