Hardware-accelerated transcoding & burning subtitles (PGS)

Hi,

I’ve got a setup where I’m using Intel Quick Sync Video (QSV) to accelerate my 4K HDR transcoding to 720P SDR.

As many people have noted before, this works great as long as I don’t try to use image-based subtitles like PGS. If I’m trying to do this i get stuttering/buffering in the playout.

My questions is; Would it be possible to transcode the stream twice for burning subtitles?
I.e. First transcode 4K HDR -> 720P SDR without subtitle and then burn the PGS subtitle to the 720P stream (by using either software or hardware-accelerated transcoding)
