Hardware Acceleration on Qnap TVS-472XT

Hi,
I was reading this old thread about Hardware Acceleration on Qnap TVS-472XT >>

there is mentioned that TVS-472XT does support Quick Sync video and therefore is HW transcoding capable.

…so HW specs is Pentium G5400T 3.1 Ghz
graphics Intel® UHD Graphics 610

I did some research and according Intel there is Quicksync support,

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/129949/intel-pentium-gold-g5400t-processor-4m-cache-3-10-ghz.html

Also when you check this chart, this P_Gold was released after ApoloLake ( J3455)
So how is it possible that cheap J3455 support HEVC, but this P_Gold not ?

It makes no sense for me,
Can somebody explain please ?
I am asking because I was looking to buy this TVS-472

Thank you

A.

Per Plex compatibility chart the TVS-472XT does not HW encode or decode 4k. As to why when compared to the J3455 I have no idea, it does seem to not make sense though I guess the fact the Pentium is 2 core verses the J3455 being 4 core may have some impact.

As I recall having more cores is typically better for video work than having a faster processor.

OK, only this make sense that this is just 2 cores, but anyway it supports quiksync according Intel docu.

The J3455 has the better QSV ASIC built in. It is capable of HEVC 2160p where the older Pentium’s ASIC cannot.

2160p HEVC UHD decode was first available in KabyLake family processors.

Thank you for the education

Hi Chuck

May I ask you where you dig out this info ?
On wiki Intel, is some table at the end but for me is not very clear.

I have one more question but this is maybe better for new thread
