Hardware Trans coding - Looking for Feedback

Hey all,

I have been considering turning on the hardware transcoding for my Plex server for a while now. With 1080p content, my server has had no issues with multiple streams, but I have intentionally stayed away from 4k content for fear the older Core i7 I am running may not handle it.

I am looking for tohers experiences with the hardware transcoding feature. Has it worked well for you?

My current CPU is a Intel® Core™ i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s).

My GPU is is a AMD Radeon R9 380.

Thoughts?

I think you are probably gonna need a Kaby lake upwards to cover all current 4K bases.
I certainly have zero issues.
With regards to the Radeon I really would have no idea sorry.
