Hardware Transcodes - Limits?

It’s good to know hardware Transcoding uses system RAM

this only applies to intel, and probably only on windows. I don’t know whether the linux intel drivers also overflow to system ram or not, but linux and windows have very different system memory architectures.

to repeat myself, nvidia on linux uses video ram (only), and a 4k hevc > 1080p x264 conversion uses about ~1.4 gig of video ram.

Hi there, I’m new to Plex and this is my first post. What I’m requesting is : Hardware Accelerated Decode with Nvidia Cards for Linux. I think this feature will be super helpful to cut down the CPU overhead when transcoding videos on a Linux server. I’m using plex server with Ubuntu(18.04 beta) for now and I have a GeForce GTX1050 card installed on my HP MicroServer Gen10.
