I’m running plex on baremetal. My OS is Arch Linux, and I have an AMD 5600g for my CPU and a Gigabyte 9070 XT OC for my GPU. I’ve just made some changes to my hardware, as I was running with an Intel GPU before.
Now I’m trying to get plex working again but I can’t get the Hardware Accel working on my dGPU. When using my iGPU it shows up properly under transcoder settings and I can confirm that video is being hw transcoded. My 9070 is being shown as “Unknown AMD (7550)” under the dropdown menu, and it just falls back to cpu transcoding when selected.
I have confirmed through mpv and vainfo that my card is able to transcode but for some reason plex doesn’t recognize or make use of my card. I’ve tried using the regular and beta branches of plex to no avail. I’ve made sure plex is added to the render and video groups. I’m really at my wits end, it doesn’t make sense to me that plex can’t recognize a GPU released within the last year. What am I missing here? I’ve attached logs of my transcoding a video both using hw through my iGPU then switching to my dGPU.
