When pausing a movie on the Plex app on a iPhone, when returning, it will not resume playing, the app crashes or has to be restarted in order to start playing again.
Anyone else experiancing this or is there a known fix?
How long are you pausing it for?
Varies, but even as short as a few minutes. Pause, grab some water, come back it won’t play like it’s frozen, have to kill it and restart the app.
Pretty sure I’m experiencing some flavor of this issue, but for audiobooks - if I pause at all, pressing play does nothing. Have to go back and find the playlist and resume manually (position not saved either). Any luck on isolating a cause?
No luck here, haven’t heard any other ideas yet either.
I have the same issue when casting to a chromecast. When I’m playing something the app is behaving as expected. As soon as I pause and either switch app, or lock the phone, the app has closed when I come back to it, and the casting disconnects. The time it has been locked for does not matter, can be 1 second. This is extremely frustrating as I have to cast and start the movie again every single time I have to pause.
This is reproducible 100% of the time on my iPhone 13 Mini and my SOs iPhone 13 and our iPad (6th gen?)
Does your server computer or the media drives possibly go to sleep during the time it was paused? been trying to reproduce but can’t, it takes few moments to resume playing but it does for me.
if you have more than one playback device can you have something continue playing on that (to make sure drives or server does not go to sleep) then try pausing on the iOS device.
Hi, I have exactly the same for already a LONG time.
The Server is always on and does not go to sleep etc. On my TV a Chromecast Ultra is connected and it playes perfectly all other streming apps and yes I can pause it and 5 min later continue.
With Plex on my iPhone SE3, iPhone 13 and any other iOS device i have the same problem as “Bouxer” and I can see on the device it is loosing focus.
Normally you see what it plays and then after some min it is on your lock screen etc but this is then completely GREY or plex even stops.
When I do this with an Android device NO issues. On Android TV no Issues and even Fire TB 4K No issues.
Also I have a 2nd server on a powerfull NAS and that also has exactly the same behaviour with iOS and Chromecast…

I also have this for more then 2 years. No One helped me
