Hello,

Whenever I use my server to play something, its my usb external hard drive. The only problem is I have to run plex from my macbook. Would it be possible to use a wifi-enabled hard drive so 1) my server is always connected ?and 2) I can access my files when not home from something like my phone?

would the hard drive need to run plex? Which would do this?

could an xbox one also act as a running server?

No. The closest to such a device would be a nVidia Shield. But I can’t recommend it for big libraries with many items.

how about the synology DS218J…for basic plex streaming using the nas as storage and pc for plex?
