HDR Harware Transcoding not working on latest PMS PlexPass version

On version 1.22.1.4200, HW transcoding for HDR tonemapping does not work, but it does work for everything else, including HEVC movies. I’ve attached the logs for both, so hopefully something in there shows what’s going on. If not I’d gladly help look into other things.

Server version that works: 1.22.0.4163
Server version that doesn’t work: 1.22.1.4200
Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Ubuntu 20.10 (I upgraded to see if that helped)
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz
GPU: Intel® UHD Graphics 630

I tried using different dockers (official Plex and linuxserver) and running it native, and all produced the same results.

Plex Media Server_1.22.0.4163.log (1.2 MB) Plex Media Server_1.22.1.4200.log (1019.5 KB)

Still the same on Plex Media Server v1.22.1.4228-724c56e62 which was pushed to public without fixing this.

Did you install, in the sequence listed,

Support for this CPU is new from Intel.

Your -10xxx CPU doesn’t yet fall into the Intel Media Driver family. Intel has instead opted for this direction.

These drivers (Intel Compute Runtime) are for the native package)

Beignet drivers will not work on this CPU.

I am working on the new packaging for this (it’s that new)

Install, restart, and retest.

Please advise of your progress.

Yup, those have been installed since HDR tonemapping support was added, and it worked all the way until the 4.22.1.14200 release. I have a bash script I made that I use when I see a new release for Intel Compute Runtime to make sure it stays updated.

If I revert back to 4.22.0.4163 then HDR tonemapping while transcoding starts working properly again. It seems like it’s a server issue with something that was added in 4.22.1.4200. I also just reinstalled all of the Intel Compute Runtime deb’s and rebooted as suggested and it’s the same issue.

Thank you for that.

That gives me the information I need to take to the transcoder team.

Would you be willing to give this a test ?

Done, but still doesn’t work. (and I can’t upload the log, I’m getting an error that says ‘undefined method `hostname’ for nil:NilClass’ when I upload the log file to the forum)

Thanks for letting me know about the forum issue. I haven’t seen any reports of that.

,… going to let folks know

Here’s a google drive link to my most recent attempt.

Please hold tight… They’re already on it

@timstephens24

Thanks for that but that log doesn’t show the MDE or transcoder activity.

Can you grab the ZIP please ?

Here’s the zip.

Works now on the most recent, thanks for all your help during these trying times :stuck_out_tongue:

Closing this thread in favor of the work we’re doing over here together.
