HDR is not recognised

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4282
Player Version#:

Had to reinstall Plex Media Server recently and, since then, it no longer recognises which of my 4K movies have HDR. However, direct playback is playing correctly with HDR triggering the appropriate setting on my TV.

I’m sure PMS used to have an HDR flag, but this appears to be missing. I’ve tried analysing the files, but I can’t seem to get PMS to detect HDR.

Are there any settings I need to be using to enable this?

TIA

Where are you expecting to see this HDR flag?

Please post the first ~20 lines of the Plex XML info of one such video.

On the individual movie page in the web browser, where it show something like “Video: 4K (HEVC) HDR”. My player would then pick this up and display an HDR tag in its movie preview page.

Your XML is missing the results of the deep analysis.
Does the content of the XML change, after you perform “Analyze” on the item?

What kind of player?

I use Firecore’s Infuse 6 on AppleTV

I don’t know that player, but apparently it relies on Plex’s media analysis. Which is absent from your XML.

So my PMS isn’t analysing the files?

Maybe it hasn’t analysed them yet. When did you create the library?
Is the “deep analysis” task activated?

Everything is ticked under scheduled tasks, but I didn’t see an option for “deep analysis”.

I’ve set the tasks to run at 13:00, so will see if the situation changes subsequently.

Upgrade media analysis during maintenance
as well as
Perform extensive media analysis during maintenance

yep, both set, so we’ll see in an hour or so if it works

If your library is particularly large, it may take several days to go through all items. The extensive analysis requires each file to be read completely from start to finish.

no, only have a few right now, so shouldn’t take long (kept library small while trying to resolve this).

Make sure that the volume which holds the Plex data folder has not been mounted with the noexec option.

it hasn’t been mounted with that option

Just precautionary

Gave the scheduled tasks 2 full runs and no change, still not seeing the HDR content

Could you inspect the XML of a few more items?
Start with those which were added last to the library (or – if the library was simply pointed to an existing folder during its creation – pick the video files with the newest file date ).
See if you can find any items which now have requiredBitrates="... present in their XML.
Are there any?

There are bitrates and requiredbandwidth, but no requiredbitrates

Ah, sorry. It is indeed requiredBandwidths which I am after. The presence of this parameter tells us that the extended analysis has been performed.
Could you again provide the full XML please?
