Headless Plexamp (rasbpi) -- Can't cast to headless using managed users

Hi,
I’ve been experimenting with PlexAmp on my phone, and a headless raspberry pi connected to stereo.

If both headless and phone have Plex admin user selected, everything works as expected.

If I try to select a managed user on both Phone and headless. The headless can see Phone as a castable client, but the phone can’t see headless as castable client.

If I switch back to the admin user on both, I can suddenly see headless as a castable device again.

Am I doing something incorrectly? Any advice would be appreciated.

We should have a fix for this in the next release.

Great! Thanks for the quick response.

This is great news. I just set up headless plexamp for poolside music and was really bummed that my kids could only connect using my profile. I just really don’t want Taylor Swift in my recently played list.

Folklore and Evermore are actually really great.

LOL. Touche

BTW, was sent here from a Reddit post and thought it would be worth mentioning that the current behavior may be different on iOS versus Android. My family are all Android users.

Plexamp behaves the same way on both platforms with respect to managed users and casting to headless.

Upgraded to 4.7.2.
Headless works well if headless is on the admin user, and the phone client is on the admin user.

If both are on the managed user, same problem exists as before. It can’t seem to see/connect to the headless and stream the music.

Are there log files I can investigate/forward on?

Appreciate any help. Having to be on the admin user kind of kills it for me.

Almost certainly a network issue. Controller and player need to be on the same subnet for UDP broadcast to work.

I’m a little confused at how to troubleshoot it almost certainly being a network issue?

If I pick plex user in the client as admin (on both headless and android app) it works. If I pick a managed user, it doesn’t work. I don’t think that would change my network settings?

Check the IP of your headless machine, and your controller. See if they’re the same (e.g. 10.0.0.x) or different (one is 10.x and the other is 192.168.x).

As admin, we have other ways of finding players that managed users don’t (currently) have access to.

For anyone who may have similar problem. I got it working by close out the apps on all devices after I switched to a managed user, and then started them all back up again.
