Plexamp Headless Nvidia Shield, can’t switch user

I thought I’d experiment with headless on my Nvidia Shield before investing in a Pi. It works perfect as the admin user but I can’t switch users.

On the Shield I can only set it to admin or logout. On my iphone when I press the cast icon headless is selected and it all works fine. When I switch to another user and press the cast icon headless isn’t there. I’ve tried the refresh button.

Is there any way to switch user? I want to set it up as a guest account so my 8 year old son can’t accidentally mess up my playlists haha

Generally this means the player is on a different network than the mobile app, as when in non-admin user we use network discovery to find players.

Ok thank you, is there any way to put it on the same network?

Hello Elan,

I’m having the exact same issue.
With my "admin"account I can use headless plexamp just as intended, without any issues.
On any other user, from my home, using the same network, when they go to the cast menu, they don’t see the headless plexamp player.

Is there any option to manage users access to the headless player?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Hugo

Please make sure they’re on the same network and it should work.

Hi Elan, thanks for reaching out.

They are on the same network, my user (I am the admin) works perfectly, other plex users (in my home, in the same network) don’t see the plexamp headless server when the click on the cast button.
But I can assure you that all the devices are on the same network.

Then perhaps something on the network is blocking broadcast UDP packets? Because that’s how a managed user would be discovering the players (for now, at least).

No switch user currently planned. I asked about this in the thread I made about plexamp on shield the other week
