Help with multichannel audio

Hello,

I am running into a bit of difficulty playing back a test multichannel audio file on my Smart TV with Plex. The file is a FLAC, and definitely contains 6 channels of audio.

I manage Plex from my iMac, which is connected to my TV through my local network (the iMac and the TV are on different floors of the house, and not a wired connection). Other files that I have ripped from my Bluray/DVD-Vs play fine in surround (they are in MP4 format) - is this where I am going wrong? Despite changing some settings as advised here https://support.plex.tv/articles/audio-configuration/ the file is still listed as ‘Nothing to see here’

There are no known smart TVs which are able to play multi-channel audio files.
(i.e. files without a video track)
And even if you added a video track, just for the fun & giggles, it would probably not work because there are almost no smart TVs which would support flac audio inside of video files.

I see, thanks. It turns out that the (working) file I was referring to that does play surround is in fact, yes, a video file. I just have to work out how to attach my other sound file to a video (or something).

Look at the media info of the working file. It probably uses some other audio codec.
