Updated to PMS version 1.5.5.3634, and I’m having trouble getting PMS to force transcode to my Xbox. I have to turn on “Direct Stream” in the Xbox settings, and I’ve upped the transcode amounts in PMS, turned off Direct Stream and Direct Play and AC3 play in PMS. When I turn off “Direct Play” and “Direct Stream” in the Xbox settings, it does nothing but pause and play for short periods.
I’d really like to get this to work, but to be honest, I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing in PMS with the settings. Can anyone give me a little insight? It would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Direct stream enabled only means that if a video or audio stream is compatible but a transcode was requested to copy the compatible stream instead of transcoding it.

These settings are only for the Web Player and will not affect other clients.

This is how you force a file to transcode on the Xbox One. Turning off Direct Play means the file will be processed through the transcoder. Turning off Direct Stream means that neither of the audio or video stream can be copied directly and both will be forced to transcode.
If you’re getting pauses very often you will need to check your Plex Media Server.log and see what your transcoding speed is. Typically when pausing like this occurs it is due to the server not being able to transcode fast enough for real time playback. But your log file will confirm or rule this out.
Sort of a bingo. I was reading through the logs, and the NAS was trying to communicate with the Xbox over DLNA. But that setting was turned off in my router. So turning it on, fixes the problem. Thanks.
